Mint Museum of Toys

Attractions
This toy museum is an interesting place to visit. Nostaglic toys are housed in this five-storey shophouse. I would suggest you take a lift to the top floor and walk down from level to level. You could see the early-days Batman, Superman, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Tin Tin and many more toys.

Mint Museum of Toys is really a fun and educational museum. It is really an eye-opener for me! If you are an avid toy collector, the Mint Museum is must-visit for you.

At the ticket entrance, you could also view a collection of old toys. Oh yes! These toys are for sales! I have to confess that it is very tempting buy a few of these toys to my bedroom! Well, I suggest ... don't resist, just buy it :)

Singapore Changi Airport

Attractions
Singapore Changi Airport is the first sight that greeted tourist from all around the world. It is one of the most beautiful and modern airport. There are three terminals that serve more than 100 international airlines flying to 200 cities in 60 countries.

There are many retail shops and dining places for you to relax. In fact, on the weekends, many local families have a family get-together in the airport! Whenever I touched down at Changi Airport from an oversea trip, I have a kind special feeling. Maybe it is a homely feeling? I suppose airport is a place with lots emotion floating around. There are smiles and laughters, cries and watery-eyes and beautiful hugs lingering around.

For transit passengers, you can have a stroll in Butterfly Garden, relax with a massage, having a dip in the rooftop swimming pool and shopping at the retail shops. You can also check-in to the Ambassador Transit Hotel or Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. You may also want to join a free Singapore tour!!

Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery

Attractions
Kong Meng San, established in 1921, is one of the largest monastery in Singapore. In the monastery, you can visit and worship at the Hall of Great Compassion, Hall of Precepts, Hall of Great Strength, Hall of Universal Brightness and Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas.

When I visit Kong Meng San, I find the monastery rather peaceful. I say my little prayers at the various Halls and enjoy the silence around me.

When visiting the monastery, one should wear clothes that covers shoulders and knees as well. Please talk softly and switch your mobile phone to silent mode.

Singapore Zoo

Attractions
Singapore Zoo, opened in 1973, is one of my favorite attractions to go and have fun! Yeah, I like to stroll freely around the 28-hectare award-winning zoo. There are 315 number of species, 16% of which are threatened species, and 2530 number of specimens in the zoo.

From the minute I step into the zoo, I will experience walking through a tropical forest. As i walk along the path of Rainforest Walk, I could gaze through many flora and fauna, and listen to the chattering of cotton-top tamarins at the same time. Many children like Rainforest Kidzworld as it is a colorful wonderland. Many kids enjoy playing and splashing in the Play Water In fact, I quite enjoy looking at the children having an enjoyable time out there!

There are also Animal Encounter and Rides which you can experience, eg, riding the elephant and horses. There are also tram and boat rides for visitors. I like to walk through the zoo, viewing the animals, fauna, listen and smelling to different types of "animals' sounds and smell". I love these nature experiences.

I strongly recommend all visitors to experience at least one Show Times or Feeding Times. I find it very enjoyable and fun! How many times could we actually see a real live jaguar, cheetah, giraffe, white tiger, chimpanzee, etc, etc, having live feeding times??!!! You may want to go the Singapore Zoo website and check out their Show Times and Feeding Times, so you could go earlier and catch them.

Remember to wear light clothing, bring along water and camera!

I would advise to wear light clothing and bring along umbrella and water if you wanted to explore the park. There are also many educational and interesting events at The Gardens. Check out their Calender of Events at their website and register for some tour!

The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) is the first museum in the region to present a broad yet integrated perspective of pan-Asian cultures and civilisations. While Singapore's forefathers came to settle in Singapore from many parts of Asia within the last 200 years, the cultures brought to Singapore by these different people are far more ancient.

This aspect of Singapore's history is the focus of the ACM. The Museum's collection therefore centres on the material cultures of the different groups originating from China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and West Asia.

Little India

Attractions
The first Indian settlers in Singapore arrived with Sir Stamford Raffles as assistants and soldiers back in 1819. In the late 19th century, many more Indian immigrants arrived to find work, be it as labourers to build roads or to take up key positions in the civil service.

Today, Little India is the focal point of Singapore's Indian community. Its spice-scented streets beckon you to a cornucopia of ethnic jewellery, jasmine garlands and silk saris. From the large Tekka Centre and Little India Arcade to the small provision shops, Little India is packed with interesting things to discover.

During Deepavali (usually between Oct/Nov), the Indian Festival of Lights, Little India is transformed into a fairyland of gaily decorated, brightly lit streets bustling with shoppers. Witness also the faith of devotees during the colourful and ritualistic Thaipusam in Jan/Feb each year.

Chinatown

Attractions

Singapore's Chinatown evolved around 1821 when the first Chinese junk arrived from Xiamen, Fujian province in China. The passengers, all men, set up home around the south of the Singapore River which is known today as Telok Ayer. Chinatown’s local name - Niu Che Shui (Bullock Cart Water) arose from the fact each household at that time had to collect fresh water from the wells in Ann Siang Hill and Spring Street, using bullock-drawn carts.

Although much of the shops have become more touristy, one can still capture some old architecture from the rows of shophouses. During the Chinese New Year and Mid Autumn Festival season, many Singaporean will flock through the streets of Chinatown to buy the festive goodies. It is will be an experience to soak in the buzz and atmosphere there!
